Flight Attendant Course

Duration: 6 Weeks – Monday to Friday – 09:00 – 15:00

Cost: Johannesburg R12 500-00 (VAT Incl) (50% to be paid on registration and 50% prior to licensing)

Subjects to be completed and expected Competencies: 

  1. Medical:

Each student applying for a flight attendant’s licence at the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa (CAA) must undergo an aviation medical examination with a CAA approved aviation doctor. This examination includes urine tests, eyesight and hearing test, chest x-rays, lung function and an ECG.

  1. SEPT:

Safety Emergency Procedures Training deals with all possible emergencies onboard an aircraft. This includes flight attendant training requirements, standard operating procedures, theory of flight, security, emergency procedures and equipment, as well as Aircraft type ratings.

  1. AVMED:

Aviation medicine training will enable you to save the life of a passenger should medical emergencies occur. This subject deals with accident injuries such as burns, fractures and medical situations like heart attacks, strokes, epilepsy, and asthma.

Medical Emergencies

Injury emergencies

Environmental Emergencies

Oxygen administration

Cabin Crew responsibilities

Crew health & Medical Fitness

Onboard Medical Equipment

Effects of high altitude flying

Basic anatomy & Physiology

  1. Ditching:

The use of flotation devices e.g. life rafts and jackets after an emergency landing on water is completed during this exercise.

  1. Dangerous Goods:

Limitations and safe carriage of such items

  1. Fire Fighting:

Practical fire fighting exercises in an approved fire trainer.

  1. Evacuation:

Practical evacuation from aircraft with slides.  

  1. Licensing:

On completion of the course at Future Flyers Training Academy successful students must pass the CAA exam at the offices in Midrand or Cape Town to obtain a valid cabin crew licence, which allows them to operate on South African registered aircraft.

  1. Future Flyers Training Academy exams and re-writes:

All students must pass a written exam after every module with 90%. Should a student fail with less than 10 % of the pass mark, one re-write will be granted. Should they fail for the second time the module must be repeated at the students own cost.

Redo module: Failure with less than 80% or failure of re-write R3950-00 per module.

  1. Interviewing Skills, CV and professional photos:

CV compilations for airlines, professional studio photos, Interviewing skills and job scouting are covered separately at R1 500.00 in a 3 day course.

 

  1. Study Material:

All study material will be supplied by Future Flyers Training Academy.

NOTE: Criteria for suitable candidates

  • Between 18 and 35
  • Matriculated
  • Able to swim
  • Presentable (height and weight in proportion)
  • Able to converse in English
  • Well groomed
  • Minimum height 1,56m

 

Important information

Future Flyers is a training academy for future cabin crew in South Africa and although we will assist all students as much as possible to secure a position at an airline we are not a placement agency and do not guarantee employment to any student.

These are questions that you should ask training organizations before enrolling

  • Is the facility accredited with the CAA and the approval number?
  • Does the course include the DD50 Medical, CAA Licensing and all the mentioned practical components?
  • Do you have the actual license and not just certificates in hand after completion of the said course?
  • Is the aircraft rating relevant to a scheduled commercial airline?
  • Are all practical exercises conducted in an environment relevant to the aviation industry?
